In this session, three scenographers, Seiichiro Takeuchi, Yugo Konishi, and Miho Odaka, who have played a central role in shaping the festival’s visual identity will share insights into their creative process, along with stories from behind the scenes.

Based in Kyoto, engaged in design projects for new developments and renovations; house, second house, hotel, etc in Tokyo. Karuizawa, Kyoto, etc. Also participating projects for scenography, making design concept for street developments . -
Yugo Konishi (Tama Plants)

Born in 1989 in Kanagawa Prefecture
Representative of Tama Plants
Specialising in architectural interiors, store design and construction, stage design and production, and art exhibition/display design and setup. Enrolled in Kyoto University of Art and Design (currently Kyoto University of the Arts) Department of Fine and Applied Arts Textiles Course in 2007.
Engaged in stage design at the university. Took a leave of absence in 2009. Living in a self-sufficient community in southern Nagano Prefecture. Returned to school and pursued a lifestyle closer to self-sufficiency by gathering wild plants and insects (entomophagy) etc.
2011 Obtained a hunting license (trapping)
2012-2014 Officer at Kyoto University of Art and Design (currently Kyoto University of the Arts). Served as assistant to former astronaut Toyohiro Akiyama and taught farming classes.
2015-2018 Member of Lunch! Architects. Participated in projects including the renovation of Honmachi Escola.
2019–Present Member of the collaborative studio Yamanaka Suplex. -
Miho Odaka (APLUS designworks)
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture. After graduating from the graduate school at Tokyo University of the Arts, she worked at LACATON&VASSAL ARCHITECTES (Paris) and Soshiki Sekkei Jimusho (Tokyo) and moved to Kyoto. Since then, she has worked primarily in the fields of interior design and exhibition design. She started participating in KYOTOGRAPHIE in 2015, taking charge of scenography design. Past major exhibitions at KYOTOGRAPHIE include Isabel Muñoz (2017/2022) and Rinko Kawauchi and Tokuko Ushioda (2024). In this year's KYOTOGRAPHIE, she will be in charge of exhibitions by Thandiwe Muriu (Kondaya Genbei Chikuin-no-Ma) and Sari Shibata (ASPHODEL).

Yusuke Nakanishi (KYOTOGRAPHIE Co-Founder & Co-Director)

Lighting Director. Yusuke Nakanishi was born in 1968 in Fukuoka, and currently lives in Kyoto. He travels the world, expressing his impressions of light and shadow from his memories. He has worked as a lighting director for music videos, feature films, stages, music concerts, fashion shows and interior designs. He also created lighting object series eatable lights and Tamashii and has exhibited installations at the Hara Museum, School Gallery (Paris), including Nuit Blanche in Kyoto. He co-founded KYOTOGRAPHIE with Lucille Reyboz in 2013 and is the co-director. In Autumn 2022, he was involved in the creative direction for Van Cleef & Arpels exhibition LIGHT OF FLOWERS, which was held on the grounds of Shimogamo Shrine and the Tadasunomori Forest. In 2023, he co-founded KYOTOPHONIE Borderless Music Festival with Lucille Reyboz.
