KYOTOGRAPHIEのセノグラフィーついて、空間デザインに携わった建築家やデザイナーがそれぞれの展示会場の写真をスライドで見ながらディスカッションします。KYOTOGRAPHIEは、ギャラリー、町屋建築など様々な建築条件で空間デザインを施すことが特徴で、これまでの展示においても、写真作品の魅力を存分に発揮させる装置として、非常に大きな役割を担ってきました。そのデザインの根幹に携わってきた6名のセノグラファーから、KYOTOGRAPHIEの「Behind the Scene」を語っていただきます。

  • Hiromitsu Konishi (miso)

    Born in Sakai, Osaka in 1978.

    Studied interior design at Parsons School of Design in New York, and worked in architecture and interior design firms in New York and Japan.

    In 2010, he established the interior architecture office named miso in Kyoto, Japan.

  • Shotaro Benno (BENNO)

    Born in Hokkaido in 1993. He has been exploring projects in collaboration with French architect Ianis Combes in Kyoto, Japan and Paris, France since 2021.
    Founded his own practice after experiences for years at Kanazawa College of Art, RCR Arquitectes LAB-A(Spain) and Takahito Miyagishima Architects. He is in charge of exhibition design for KYOTOGRAPHIE after winning the first prize for Scenography Design Competition in KYOTOGRAPHIE2021.

  • Shunsuke Kimura (SSK)

    Kimura was born in 1985 in Kanagawa, and graduated from Tama Art University with a graduate degree in 2012. He worked at the Kazuya Morita Architecture stodio from 2012~2018. In 2018 he then created SSK in Kyoto. He currently works as a full time lecturer at Kyoto Art University. From storehouses, to homes, to office spaces, he has developed a variety of projects spanning from temporary installations to interior design. His best known book is "Eyes that see the world, hands that ponder architecture", and his best known exhibitions include Architecture Pass Kyoto (2022), and Made Do WIth Now (2022).

  • Mariko Kodera (AMK)

    Born in 1989 in Okayama, Kodera graduated from the Graduate School of Environmental Science at Shiga Prefecture University in 2014 (Shuji Nuno Labratory). 2015~2022: employed at Morinda Kogeya Architectural Firm. (Main Projects: Lattice-pod [2017], Ohara House [2022], etc.) Kodera estabished AMK in Tokyo in 2022, and has been working as a non-preforming lecturer at Kyoto University of Art since the same year. His work encompasses a variety of activities, including designing private residences, rennovating machiya, and interior design for stores and clinics, among others.

    Takuma Yokomae, born in Japan, is a first-class registered architect. He received his Masters of Architecture from Tokyo University of Science (2012). Since then and for 10 years, Yokomae has been a close collaborator of SANAA. Under the direction of Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, he was the project chief in charge and led from design to completion the Tsuruoka Cultural Center, the Matsushima Nature House, the Yoshida Printing Tokyo Headquarters, the Umekita Phase II Development Project, and Shibuya Station Area Development Project. Driven by a profound passion to explore the harmonious intersection of architecture, environment, and nature, Yokomae continually seeks fresh avenues for architectural expression. Together with Ghali Bouayad, he established YOKOMAE et BOUAYAD Atelier d’architecture in 2023.

    Dr. Ghali BOUAYAD, born in Morocco, is an HMONP licensed architect awarded a doctorate of fine arts from Tokyo University of The Arts (2021). He received his Masters of Architecture at the Paris La Villette architectural school after spending his final year at Kyushu University (2015). Bouayad now lives and practices in Japan, working with architectures, speculative diagrams, mixed realities, drawings, physical models and text, while being concerned in his practice by the notion of ornamentation in the age of postdigital architecture, the impact of technology on aesthetics, crafts and phenomenology. He has exhibited internationally and received multiple awards for his work: at Itabashi Art Studio (2018, Tokyo); the Japanese Monbukagakushou MEXT Fellowship (2017 ~ 2021); the Architectural Institute of Japan jury prize for the Ginza Architectural Grand Prix, (2018); and in 2020 has exhibited at the Tokyo Geidai Museum. Between 2021 and 2023, Ghali has been a collaborator of Kazuyo Sejima. At SANAA, he participated in the design of Shibuya Station, was a co-project leader on the Umekita Large Canopy in Osaka, and acted as a structure lead designer on the new maritime museum in Shenzhen. Together with Takuma Yokomae, he established in 2023 YOKOMAE et BOUAYAD Atelier d’architecture.

    Lighting Director. Yusuke Nakanishi was born in 1968 in Fukuoka, and currently lives in Kyoto. He travels the world, expressing his impressions of light and shadow from his memories. He has worked as a lighting director for music videos, feature films, stages, music concerts, fashion shows and interior designs. He also created lighting object series eatable lights and Tamashii and has exhibited installations at the Hara Museum, School Gallery (Paris), including Nuit Blanche in Kyoto. He co-founded KYOTOGRAPHIE with Lucille Reyboz in 2013 and is the co-director. In Autumn 2022, he was involved in the creative direction for Van Cleef & Arpels exhibition LIGHT OF FLOWERS, which was held on the grounds of Shimogamo Shrine and the Tadasunomori Forest. In 2023, he co-founded KYOTOPHONIE Borderless Music Festival with Lucille Reyboz.
