INSIDE THE ATELIER EXB IN PARIS
Talk with President and Editor Nathalie Chapuis

On the occasion of Thierry Ardouin’s photographic exhibition Seed stories curated by Nathalie Chapuis, the editor, co-associate of Atelier EXB, will present the publishing house from its founding with Xavier Barral in 2002 to its collective adventure today going through books and exhibitions that have marked the history of the house such as Mars, a photographic exploration and Martin Gusinde’s portraits of the Tierra del Fuego’s communities (both exhibited at the Kyotographie Festival in 2014 and in 2015) as well as Sophie Calle, William Kentridge, Josef Koudelka, Yuriko Takagi, Alain Willaume, etc. Nathalie Chapuis will share as well some behind-the-scene stories and the specificity of Atelier EXB in book making, collaborating with artists, scientists and authors from around the world.

  • Nathalie Chapuis (Curator/ Atelier EXB)

    Holder of a PhD in art history, Nathalie Chapuis is co-director of the French publishing house Atelier EXB, following a decade-long collaboration with founder Xavier Barral. She has published numerous books with photographic institutions from over the world, including the Centre Pompidou, Le Bal and the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, in Paris, as well as the Fotomuseum Rotterdam and MASS MoCA Los Angeles. Recent publications include Sophie Calle's Picalso (co-published with the Picasso Museum, Paris), Marina Gadonneix's Laboratories / Observatories (co-published with the Centre Pompidou, Paris), Lukas Hoffmann's Strassenbilder and Seed Stories (co-published with the National Museum of Natural History, Paris). She has curated Petit précipité subjectif d'une histoire des graines, presented at the Centquatre art center in Paris (2022), and co-curated the traveling exhibition inspired by the book collection Des Oiseaux (Toulouse, Brussels, Landskrona and Breda).
