In this workshop, Shinya Ogasawara, a deaf guide who has conducted numerous writing-based guided your of museums acrosss Japan, will conduct a similar tour for the Birdhead exhibition "Welcome to Birdhead World Again, Kyoto 2024" through written communication. This workshop will allow deaf people, hearing people, and hard of hearing people to all enjoy viewing th exhibition together. By appreciating art,i it is possible to express what thoughts and feelings it inspirerd through spoken word. Howwever, by not using spoken word or sign language, one might narrow down and chose to convey their most important feelings, to convey through illustration what cannot be expressed through words, and to look back upon time as a trajectory.
Important Notice
* This event will be accompanied by a sign language interpreter.
* Open to all elementary school students and older, including hearing impaired.
* Workshop participants will experience Birdhead's "Welcome to Birdhead World, 2024 Kyoto".
* Please bring socks as you will be walking around on the tatami mats and floors of the precious structures. (Please refrain from wearing barefoot.)

Shinya Ogasawara (Deaf Art Viewing Guide/ Tokushima Prefectural Museum of Modern Art Art Event Supporter)
From birth, he could not hear.
At the age of 3, he was regularly brought along to art museums by parents who delighted in art.
Following his graduation from the Social Sciences Department of Kansai Gakuin University, Ogasawara began working at a company and delighted in visiting art museums and art festivals both domestic and international during his weekends. The chance to enter discussion with artwork of all types became his greatest joy.
