Architects and designers involved in the spatial design of KYOTOGRAPHIE will discuss the senography of KYOTOGRAPHIE, showing slides of photographs of the exhibition venues. KYOTOGRAPHIE is characterized by its use of a variety of architectural types, including galleries, Machiya buildings, and outdoor spaces. The speakers will talk about KYOTOGRAPHIE's "Behind the Scene", including past episodes, such as ingenuity and difficulty of the spacial design.
Born in 1971, Ouchi graduated from the Department of Graphic Design at Tama Art University’s Faculty of Art and Design. Apprenticed under the late Ikko Tanaka, he established nano nano graphics Ltd. on July 7, 2003. Setting the synergy between the two-dimensional world and space as the axis of his creation, he employs a consistent direction from graphic to spatial design, and expands his activities across a wide range of fields. He has worked on exhibition design both in Japan and abroad. In August 2021, he served as the art director and scenographer for the first art festival in Chiba City, " Chiba City Festival of Arts CHIBAFOTO." In January 2022, he founded the "MATSUMOTO Architecture + Art Festival" in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, and serves as the general director.
Hiromitsu Konishi (Designer/ miso)
After studying interior design at Parsons School of Design, Konishi worked for an architectural firm in New York and an interior design firm in Japan, and was involved in various projects around the world. In 2010, he established the firm "miso" in Kyoto, setting spatial design as the axis and working on architecture, furniture, and product design. He creates diverse ideas and design by actively collaborating with designers and craftsmen of various genres for each project. He has been involved in KYOTOGRAPHIE as a scenographer (exhibition space designer) since the first year.
Miho Odaka (Designer/ APLUS designworks)
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture. After completing postgraduate studies at Tokyo University of the Arts, Odaka worked at LACATON & VASSAL ARCHITECTES (Paris) and Yamashita Sekkei (Tokyo), then moved to Kyoto. Since 2015, she has been working for KYOTOGRAPHIE as a scenography designer and project manager. Main artists she has collaborated with include Thierry Bouët and Isabel Muñoz. For this year’s KYOTOGRAPHIE, she works on Dennis Morris' "Colored Black" (Sekai Soko) and Gak Yamada's " Life, Cosmetic flower" (HOSOO GALLERY).
