For Earth Day 2026, KYOTOGRAPHIE and Kids Farm in Kyoto Ohara are teaming up for a fun, educational activity to learn about the core principles of Earth Day: circular economy, reduction of food waste, and mindful consumption of products from the land.
Learn to recognise the shapes and tastes of local vegetables, and take part in a fun sensory quiz! Discover unusual and quirky shapes of unsold vegetables and rediscover their value (you might even get to take some home with you!)
Take part in these events at the KYOTOGRAPHIE x Kids Farm in Kyoto Ohara x Nishiki Market vegetable shop booth at the Earth Day event in Okazaki Park.
Kids Farm in Kyoto Ohara:
Kids Farm in Kyoto Ohara is an education space where participants can experience the entire process of growing, harvesting, cooking and eating vegetables. In pesticide-free, organically cultivated fields, they grow vegetables while observing the changes of the four seasons. In cooking with seasonal ingredients, kids learn about local food culture and the making of processed foods.
Kids Farm in Kyoto Ohara is mainly intended for elementary school children and their families. By experiencing firsthand that “eating is living,” kids gain knowledge and experience, while adults are given an opportunity to rethink and rediscover their relationship with food and sustainable living.

Masayo Hirose
During her student years, Hirose discovered fair trade and was deeply inspired by ways of life co-existing with nature around the world. She wanted to value a “hand-made” way of living while in Japan, and got interested in agriculture.
She is now based in Ohara countryside, Kyoto, where she conducts food education activities that allow children and families to learn about food and nature through hands-on practice in the fields.
