Symposium & Concert Announced as part of “South Africa in Focus” Program

A key highlight of this year’s Main Program, South Africa In Focus brings together three generations of artists: Lebohang Kganye,Ernest Cole, and Pieter Hugo. The artists will be presented in distinct exhibitions, offering a timely re-reading of South Africa’s visual history. Plus, a collection of photobooks curated by Sean O’Toole presented in collaboration with Cape Town’s A4 Arts Foundation will offer deeper cultural, historical, and political context.
Extending this focus beyond the gallery is a special visit from Siyabulela Mandela, great-grandson of Nelson Mandela. Mandela will take part in a conversation with the exhibiting artists and curators and moderated by journalist Jillian Wolf. South African musicians Msaki x Tubatsi will perform afterwards for KYOTOPHONIE in a separate ticketed event.
