KG+SELECT 2026 Application Deadline October 31!

KG+is an open-call art festival held alongside KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival each year. KG+aims to discover and support emerging artists in the next phase of their career.

Each spring, KG+ exhibitions take place across Kyoto — in a wide range of venues, from galleries and cafes to hotel lobbies and public spaces. The festival features three program streams:

  • KG+2026: Solo and group exhibitions independently organised by artists, curators, galleries, museums, and educational or cultural institutions. *Applications for this general stream are scheduled to open from November 1 – December 31, 2025.
  • KG+SPECIAL: Exhibitions presented in collaboration with festival partners.
  • KG+SELECT: A curated group exhibition open through an application process. One artist from this program is selected to present their work in the KYOTOGRAPHIE Main Program the following year.

KG+SELECT 2026 — Call for Entries

Applications are now open for the KG+SELECT category.

  • Application Period : Monday September 1 – Friday October 31, 2025, 23:59 (JST)
  • * Late submissions will not be accepted. Please note this year’s application period is earlier than usual.
  • * Applications must be submitted via the official online form (email submissions are not accepted).
  • *There are no age or nationality restrictions. Multiple submissions are welcome!
  • Application Fee: ¥10,000 (includes one KYOTOGRAPHIE Passport Ticket per application)

  • Application Process: Applications will be reviewed by an international panel of judges.
  • Prize: 10 artists will be selected from among the applicants and invited to exhibit their works at an assigned venue (location to be announced later). The selected artists will each receive a grant of ¥200,000 to help cover the costs of producing their works. A catalog of the exhibited artworks will be produced and the exhibition will be widely publicised via various media in Japan and abroad. One Grand Prix Award winner will receive a grant of ¥500,000 to support for create of new work and to produce an exhibition for the Main Program of KYOTOGRAPHIE 2027.
