[KYOTOGRAPHIE 2026 Commemorative Screening]
A special collaboration between Fatma Hassouna, KYOTOGRAPHIE 2026 artist, and UPLINK Kyoto.

This talk event focuses on the life and perspective of Palestinian photojournalist Fatma Hassouna. Film director Sepideh Farsi, who spent about a year in dialogue with her and captured that exchange in a film, will join online, together with Yusuke Nakanishi, co-founder and co-director of KYOTOGRAPHIE. Through reflecting on the light and voices Fatma conveyed through her photography and interactions, the conversation explores her way of living and the unique perspective she embodied.
(Please note that director Sepideh Farsi, who is originally from Iran and currently based in Paris, is scheduled to join the event online. However, due to the recent situation in the Middle East, if she is unexpectedly unable to participate remotely, the event will proceed with a substitute guest speaker.)
Important Notice
*From 18:00, a talk event will be held after the screening of Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk, ending at approximately 20:45.
*Admission to this event requires a valid ticket for the film screening.

Sepideh Farsi experienced the revolution at
13, was imprisoned at 16 as a dissident, and left her native Iran at 18. Based in Paris since then, she has studied mathematics, taken photos, and made some fifteen films —documentaries, fiction, and animation — among which Tehran Without Permission, Red Rose, and The Siren, a feature animation that deals with the Irak-Iran war. She is currently working on an “Iranian Western” film project, and also developing an animation project inspired by her life, called Memoirs of an Undutiful Girl, all the while fighting for the instauration of democracy in Iran.
