“Tending the garden is like tending the mind.” Since ancient times in Japan, garden cleaning has been cherished as the “foundation of hospitality” for welcoming guests, as well as a precious moment for calming one’s own mind.
At this event, held at the Yuuhisai Koudoukan—a venue that retains the atmosphere of a traditional learning place dating back to the Edo period—you will experience the maintenance of a traditional tea garden amidst the crisp morning air. Gather fallen leaves, clean the stones, and beautifully arrange the garden path. After this quiet activity, where you can almost feel the garden’s breath with your fingertips, you will enjoy a cup of matcha in the tea room while admiring the garden you have just tended with your own hands. Face the garden in silence, escape the daily hustle and bustle through the act of tending, and harmonize your mind and body.

*Please wear comfortable clothing.
*We will provide cleaning supplies. You do not need to bring anything.
*Please wear socks when entering the building after cleaning.
*Please note that we cannot issue refunds for cancellations made at the customer’s request.
