As an event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the KG+SELECT Award, a cross-talk session will be held with past award winners, who will share their perspectives from where they are today as photographers, including their step up from the KG+Award to KYOTOGRAPHIE and their activities since then. They will share their perspectives from where they are now in their lives as photographers.

* Those wishing to attend the event are requested to gather at the TIME'S 1st floor reception desk 15 minutes prior to the start time.
* After the event, there will be a book signing by the artists.

Speakers Speakers

  • Tomomi Morita (KG+ AWARD 2017 Winner)

    Born in Kyoto in 1994, Tomomi Morita graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Master: Intermedia Art. In 2019, he moved to the town of Minamata in Kumamoto Prefecture, where he continues to photograph the scenery of the reclaimed land, inlets, and capes of Minamata Bay. His major exhibitions include KG+ 2017 Two Rivers (Former Junpu Elementary School / Kyoto, 2017), KYOTOGRAPHIE 2018 Sanrizuka – Then and Now (Horikawa Oike Gallery / Kyoto, 2018), Kyoto Art for Tomorrow 2020 – Kyoto Prefecture New Artists Exhibition (The Museum of Kyoto / Kyoto, 2020), A Certain Window (Studio 04 / Tokyo, 2023), Lake Biwa and Minamata Bay: Scenes of Prayer (Kohoku Tourist Information Center, Former Shioike Residence / Shiga, 2024), Viewing here: Minamata (Tsunagi Museum / Kumamoto, 2024), Viewing here: Minamata / Noto (Studio 04 / Tokyo, 2025).

  • Kenryou Gu (KG+ AWARD 2018 Winner)

    Born in Kyoto in 1994, and raised in Shanghai, Kenryou Gu graduated from the Contemporary Art and Photography Program of Kyoto University of the Arts (formerly Kyoto University of Art and Design). While in university, he studied abroad at the École nationale supérieure de la photographie (ENSP Arles) in France. He is currently based in Kyoto. Major solo exhibitions include KYOTOGRAPHIE 2019 15972 Sampling (Sfera, 2019), A PART OF THERE IS HERE (YUKIMOMIZUTANI GALLERY, 2021), Aperto18: Intervals of the Afterimage (21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, 2023), and Dimensions Unseen (Yumiko Chiba Associates, 2024).

  • Hsing-Yu Liu (KG+SELECT Award 2024 Winner/ KYOTOGRAPHIE 2025 Artist)

    Born in 1985 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Liu received his MFA degree from the National Kaohsiung Normal University.
    Liu's work centered on themes of agriculture, ecology and gender equality. For Liu, photography serves as both a creative method and a participatory medium, playing a thoughtful yet playful role in engaging people with these issues. Liu was nominated for the 2018 Taipei Arts Awards and participated in the Cosmopolis #2: Rethinking the Human at the Centre Pompidou.

    In the photographic installation work that he got KG+SELECT Award 2024, The Mail Address is No Longer Valid, to inform his ancestors about the legalization of same-sex marriage in Taiwan, he dressed his father in a wedding gown and his mother in a suit, staging a wedding that blurred the line between reality and illusion. Alongside photography, Liu incorporates calligraphy and sealing as a gesture to represent the absent and to bridge the past and future.
