MEMBRANES ©2017 eyeohasi

Eye Ohashi regards soap bubbles as a membrane, something that has been protected in its growth, much like how surrounding people, schools, or nature have protected us. In this exhibition, Ohashi photographs her old school in Hakone, capturing a sense of ‘now’ in an unchanged environment, and the ‘past’ when she spent time in school. Much like how we are wrapped in a thin membrane when we are in the womb, the artist tries to evoke the feeling of constantly being protected by something larger than ourselves.
