Akiyoshi Miyake “Typology for traces of gable roofs”
Akiyoshi Miyake photographs the walls of buildings in a city, what remains on these walls, and the traces of dismantled houses. Vestiges of people and their lives are engraved and weathered with the flow of time. They disappear from sight when new buildings are erected. Eventually, the adjacent walls are also dismantled, erasing these traces from the record of man. In this work, the artist photographs the traces of dismantled houses, and dares to print without the use of chemicals. As the unexposed areas receive light, the image will gradually disappear, which creates a record for the time limit to these works.
