・Solo photography exhibitions being held in the city of Kyoto, including video and installation that incorporate photographic elements. (Group exhibitions not accepted, both indoor and outdoor exhibitions accepted.)
・With 12 April-16 April 2017 included in the dates, exhibitions held for at least 1
week (including venue closure dates)
※ Work selected by the KG+ Executive Committee, from exhibitions held only in the first half of KG+ opening period, may be exhibited in other venues secured by the KG+ Executive Committee throughout the entire duration of KG+ 2017.
Members of the KG+ Executive Committee select artists eligible for the KG+ Award.
Final selection (Top 3 artists and winner of award) to be selected by the KG+ Executive Committee and experts outside of the committee.
・ Selection Criteria
Creative originality of works and/or exhibiting methods
New potential for the creative uses of local resources (such as unique uses of exhibition spaces)
Feasibility of exhibition plan (production plan, schedule, etc.)
Applicants to secure their exhibition venue within Kyoto city, then register and fill in the online application form on the website.

・Artist statement (refer to 2016 website)
・Venue plan (exhibition layout added onto venue map, hand-drawn/written descriptions not accepted) and photos of venue
・Venue booking agreement (contract confirming venue-booking during said dates, including the name of person in charge of venue, seal, venue address, and note confirming permission of use)
・Data of exhibiting works (5 to 10 pieces, JPEG) with captions (List number_name of artist_title of work_copyright = title of JPEG image e.g. 01_Akira_Otsubo_Code of Shadow_©Akira Otsubo = Code of Shadow)
Resolution: 300dpi, colour setting: CMYK, size: over 230mm length, total of 5 to 10 pieces, under 80M)
Text written on the application form will be used for publicity. Submitted writing may be edited by the KG+ Office for promotional purposes. All publicity material, including the booklet, is proofread by the KG+ Office.
For application purposes, exhibition prints may also be sent (5 to 10 piece, under A3. Postal only) Do not send original prints to be reviewed, but copies or ink jet versions of the work. On the back of each piece write your name and title of the work (or put the work in a clear plastic bag, with name and title on the bag). Example ( List number_ name of artist_title of work_ e.g. 01_Akira Otsubo_Code of Shadow)
※ Prints will be handled with great care, but responsibility will not be taken for any damage to the prints from postage or reviews of the work. Prints will be sent back to applicants, cash on delivery, so please enclose a self-addressed cash on delivery slip with the work.

Exhibitions selected for the KG+ Award, Solo Show and Group Show will be publicized
on the KG+ Map and website, etc. A booklet featuring works of artists participating in
the KG+ Award will be published. See the 2016 KG+ booklet for details.
Judges of the KG+ Award to visit about 10 exhibitions. Out of those, the winner and Top 3 will be selected.
KG+ Opening. Winner of KG+ Award and Top 3 to be announced at the KG+ Opening Party. Projections of works by KG+ 2017 artists to be shown at party venue.
・Venues for exhibitions must be secured by applicants by 5 January 2017.
・Applicants are responsible for all costs, including venue rental fees, printing, framing, use of projectors, transportation of artworks.
・Applicants are responsible for exhibition surveillance throughout the duration of the event. Organizers claim no responsibility and will not provide any assistance.
・Organizers claim the right to use artists’ texts and images (credit to artists included) freely for publicity purpose, on the KG+ website, and printed materials.
・Cancellation of exhibitions after the KG+ selection may result in a penalty fee (which will go towards costs in re-advertising, etc.).
・Infringement of rights and compensation of damage claimed by third parties must be handle by, and is the responsibility of, the applicants. Organizers claim no responsibility.
1 exhibition is selected from the KG+ Award candidates. The awarded artist of the exhibition will exhibit at KYOTOGRAPHY International Photography Festival 2018, and receive the following support:
・Max. 500,000 Yen exhibition fee
・Promotion and publication in the KYOTOGRAPHY International Photography Festival 2018 Catalogue.
KG+ participants will be invited to the KG+ reception party. Also, educational programmes run by KYOTOGRAPHIE, such as master classes, and portfolio reviews by invited international specialists, will be offered at reduced prices. Details will be up on the website in future.
※ Applicants who were not selected for the KG+ Award, Solo Show, or Group Show, may participate in the Fringe festival. Applicants who wish to do so may check the relevant box in the application form. Fringe means “border”. Throughout the duration of KG+, an enrichment of many exhibitions and events will take place. Fringe will have its own website to share information. Applicants wishing to take part in Fringe will be contacted, with details on how to register information.
